Motor-cycles are King of Ho Chi Minh City's Traffic

Motor-cycles everywhere. They are the King of the traffic in Ho Chi Minh City.

The motor-cycles occupy at least one lane of a two-lane street. Although there are so many motor-cycles, pedestrians can cross the road without any problems. They know how to avoid the pedestrians safely.

Even though there are so many motor-cycles everywhere, I have not witnessed any accidents involving them during my one-week stay in the City. It is a miracle that they can co-exist with the pedestrians, taxis and cars without any problem.

There must be millions of motor-cycles in the city.

There are even more motor-cycles on Saturday & Sunday nights when most teenagers come to the city with their girlfriends for a night out in their motor-cycles.

A car-park full of motor cycles in a company's compound.

See the masks on the motor-cyclists.

Motor-cycles everywhere.

They even take the footpaths.

Motor-cycles co-exit with cars at intersections of the roads.

All types of Motor-cycles on the road

The Ho Chi Minh City has a population of 8 million people and there must be at least 3 million motor-cycles around. This must be a cheap way of transport for the people.

It is interesting to watch the skill of all these motor-cyclists (young & old, men & ladies, boys & girls) riding through intersections and junctions of roads, avoiding each other, cars and pedestrians walking across the road.

As pedestrians, you can cross the road safely if you walk slowly (do not run), the motor-cyclists will know how to avoid you.
