Wok-baked Crab in Restoran Crab Village, Penang, Malaysia

To locate the restaurant "Restoran Crab Village ", look out for this sign along Tanjung Bungah Road near the Hollywood Cafe on the way downtown from Tanjung Bungah.

Restoran Crab Village - the front view.

There are a few car park lots in the front porch of the restaurant.
The Restaurant signature dish is Crab baked in a wok until crab shell is almost burnt.
They also serves salted fresh prawns.

Crab Village Restaurant - the back view.

You can dine inside the restaurant or in the open air.

You can have some side-order from a stall in the compound of the restaurant. The hawker serves very good Fried Rice, Fried Oyster with eggs, Shark Fin Soup and other noodles dishes.

Sea View.
You can go for short stroll at the back of the restaurant which is facing the sea.

Restoran Crab Village Special - Wok-baked Crab

The crabs are full of egg roe. They are really very special and taste delicious.

They are prepared by baking in a wok until the shell is almost burnt. Eat the crab as prepared in order to taste the crab in its originality.

If you need a chilli taste, there is a chilli sauce provided.

I don't think you can find this specially prepared baked crab anywhere except in this restaurant and another, near the Tanjong Tokong temple which is also operated by the same family.

Be prepared to pay for RM50 a kilogram for the crab. If you are in Penang, you should pay a visit to this restaurant if you are a crab lover. It is highly recommended.

I must tell you about my experience when dining at this restaurant recently. This is a horribly overpriced restaurant which takes advantage of peak periods. I dined there recently and the bill was shocking. We had ordered beer and some ice to go with it. We were charged Rm6 for a bucket of ice and Rm5 for a plate of ice. Altogether we had 5 buckets of ice as we ordered a lot of beer we were charged RM35 altogether just for ice. The other drinks were also priced extravagantly and not as listed. When we questioned the owner he started mumbling and could not answer us. Even though the food was good it was practically daylight robbery.Altogether it was a horrible dinner and you can be sure i am NEVER returning there again
