Visit Pottery Showroom in Kuching, Sarawak

We visited the Pottery Showroom of "Ngai Tai Pottery" in Kuching, Sarawak. The finished products are shown above in the photographs taken. They come in all shapes and sizes.

They have almost all types of pottery, flower vase, flower pot, lamp shade, umbrella stand and so on. They are all hand-made with creative indigenous designs to suit customers.

Visit to Ngee Tai Pottery Factory in Kuching, Sarawak

Pottery Making is one of the cottage industry o f Kuching, Sarawak. There are many pottery factories in Kuching.

We visited one of them, " Ngai Tai Pottery Factory" in Kuching.

The workers who created the design of the products mainly vase and pots, big and small, are very artistic and skillful.

The products are mainly produced for sale to tourists but the locals do frequent the place for flower pots and souvenir for friends.

A morning walk around the city near Crowne Plaza in Kuching, Sarawak

Walking around the city makes me confirmed that Kuching is one of the cleanest cities in Malaysia.

If you are visiting East Malaysia, you should not leave Malaysia without paying Kuching a visit. You will not regret it.

We were feted by my brother-in-law to a Chinese dinner which comprises of the above dishes and fried hor fun. The dishes are very well done by the famous chefs of the popular Restaurant. They are of high quality and standard in Chinese cooking. We really enjoyed the dinner.

Would recommend any visitors to Kuching to visit the Restaurant.

The Sarawak Museum (Old Building) is located in Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, 93566 Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia. The opening hours : Monday to Sunday from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. Admission is free.

This old building is used as the centre to exhibit collections on the natural history of Sarawak. The ground floor of the museum holds the natural history collection and specimens of Sarawak fauna – reptiles, mammals, birds, etc, all expertly prepared and mounted for display. The west wing of the museum houses Shell exhibition - petroleum industries of Sarawak.


The first floor displays exhibits of ethnographic artifacts such as models of longhouses of the various ethnic groups in Sarawak, musical instruments, various kinds of fish and animal traps, handicrafts, models of boats and others.


Since its inception, the building has undergone several renovations and alterations. It is rectangular, 44’ x 160’ with walls and pillars of bricks and roof of belian and concrete. It has European architecture of imposing edifice in Queen Anne style (Victorian period). The galleries are lighted by dormer windows on the roof which thus allow a great area of wall space.





The Sarawak Museum was built by Charles Brooke, the White Rajah of Sarawak, for exhibiting the handicrafts of the indigenous people and the wildlife of Sarawak. The building was designed by a French aide of Brooke, who copied the design of the Normandy Town Hall in France.

I would recommend all visitors to Kuching to visit the Sarawak Museum which is one of the oldest museum in Malaysia.
