We all know that dragon fruits are products of Vietnam.
Do you know how the tree of a Dragon Fruit looks like? Well, on a trip to Ayer Tawar, Perak, Malaysia, I was introduced to the Dragon Fruit Tree.
It turns out to be from a cactus family as you can see from the photo above. You can see the dragon fruits hanging on the cactus branches.
The flesh of the dragon fruits is white in color with many small black seeds. They are high nutrition fruits and rich in Vitamin C.A better view of the dragon fruits. Photo taken in the garden of a friend in Ayer Tawar, Perak, Malaysia.

Penang Chendol & Fruit Ice in Tropical Fruit Farm

To locate the Tropical Fruit Farm in Penang Island, look out for this sign when you reach
Batu 18, Jalan Telok Bahang, Penang. Tel no : 604-8665168.The Tropical Fruit Farm is perched on a hillside overlooking the Indian Ocean. It is 800 ft above sea level. It was developed in 1993.
The Orchard covers 25 acres and has 200 species of tropical fruits & exotic spices. There is a fully guided tour to the orchard and takes around an hour.
The showroom full of tropical fruits for visitors to see and sample. You can always try out the various fruits during your tour of the orchard.
There are various tropical fruit juices, cut fruits, local rojak, fruit ice and chendol for sale.
My favourite is the Fruit Ice.
Recommended to try the Fruit Ice or what the locals called Ice kachang.
Be warned, there is no kachang inside, instead there are only tropical fruits and mango or durian puree. Penang Chendol
If you are in Penang for a few days, you should take a drive around the island. It is during this journey, you will be driving along Jalan Telok Bahang, and you should take a break by going up the hill at Batu18 to the "Tropical Fruit Farm" and sample the delicious Fruit Ice and Chendol.
The view around the Tropical Fruit Farm Building is breath-taking. Take a stroll around to enjoy the scenery or take a conducted tour to the orchard. It is worth your time.
