Dragon Fruits

We all know that dragon fruits are products of Vietnam.

Do you know how the tree of a Dragon Fruit looks like? Well, on a trip to Ayer Tawar, Perak, Malaysia, I was introduced to the Dragon Fruit Tree.

It turns out to be from a cactus family as you can see from the photo above.

You can see the dragon fruits hanging on the cactus branches.

The flesh of the dragon fruits is white in color with many small black seeds. They are high nutrition fruits and rich in Vitamin C.

You can find the Penang Wan Tan Mee Stall in Poly Coffee Garden Coffee Shop which operates from 7 am to 11 pm.


The Wan Tan Mee is the dry type in black soya sauce. The Wan Tan Mee comes with a separate bowl of wanton soup. The stall serves good wan tan mee as compared with some other stalls that we have tried.

Penang Curry Mee

Kedai Kopi KWAI LOCK is located at the junction of Jalan Burmah (Burmah Road) and Solok Moulmein ( Moulmein Close) infront of Pualu Tikus Police Station.

The Penang Hokkien Mee Soup is like the "Prawn Mee Soup" in Singapore except the Penang version does not have big prawn but small prawns sliced into two or three pieces.
The soup of the Penang Hokkien Mee is thicker than the Singapore version.

If you are looking for a good Penang Hokkien Mee, we recommend you give this stall a try and you will not regret it. It is one of the better Hokkien Mee we have tried in Penang.

Penang Chee Cheong Fun in Pulau Tikus, Penang

To locate the Chee Cheong Fun Hawker Push Cart, look out for this coffee Shop, Kedai Kopi KWAI LOCK which is at the junction of Jalan Burmah and Solok Moulmein in Pulau Tikus, Penang.


The push cart hawker stall is at the side of KWAI LOCK coffee shop and along Solok Moulmein.
You can either eat on the tables in the open provided by the coffee shop or you can order take-away.


The stall is popular with locals having Chee Cheong Fun for breakfast or order take-away, after their daily marketing in the wet market nearby.

The Chee Cheong Fun is good and recommended. The prawn paste and the chilli make the Chee Cheong Fun special in taste.


You should be able to find the hawker stall without any problem. Try it out if you happens to be in the area.
