Famous Wan Tan Mee

We had the famous Wan Tan Mee for breakfast during our recent visit to Penang. The mee is rather soggy and the fried wantons are rather tough and hard.

We don't find it that good as perceived and could not understand how it becomes famous that it is called Famous Wan Tan Mee.

If you are looking for a place for lunch, go to Kedai Kopi Kong Bee Lee. Apart from the Koay Teow Soup & Wan Tan Mee Stalls, there are two other stalls. One Indian selling Curry Rice and the other Chinese stall selling Curry Rice as well.

We enjoyed our lunch there and the food is average but there are quite a crowd during lunch hours.

Pontian Wanton Noodles in Singapore

You can find another Malaysian hawker food in Singapore. It is the famous Pontian Wanton Noodles from Pontian, Johore, Malaysia. It is located in the Marine Parade Central ( Market & Food Centre) in Block 84, Marine Parade Central.

The Pontian Wanton Noodles Stall is in Block 84, Marine Parade Central. The bowl of wanton noodles with a small bowl of wanton & soup cost S$2.50. They come in different variation, black sauce and with or without chilli. It is self-service, you have queue for your bowl of wanton noodles.

The noodles are not as fine as those from HongKong or Penang but they are good. The fried wanton is crunchy and good.

The hawker food "Pontian Wanton Noodles" is good. I would recommend it for lunch if you happen to be around Marine Parade Central.

Penang Hawker Food in NEW CATHAY coffee shop in Penang, Malaysia

Kedai Kopi NEW CATHAY is located at the junction of Lorong Kucing and Jalan Burma.

The landmark to look for is this Church "Immaculate Conception" along Jalan Burma. Kedai Kopi NEW CATHAY is located in-front of this Church.

Kedai Kopi NEW CATHAY has many Penang Hawker Food stalls. It is open for breakfast and lunch. There are car parks around but it is difficult to locate one as the place is popular with locals. The food are quite good and it is recommended you give it a go if you are looking for place for breakfast or lunch.

Char Koay Teow is good and comparable with others in the Island.

The Wan Tan Mee is good with generous ingredients. It comes with a bowl of wanton soup.

The Poh Piah is ordinary

The Koay Teow Th'ng (Soup) is quite good in taste and can be considered one of the better Koay Teow Soup I have eaten in the Island. It is highly recommended.

The Sar Hor Fun is good with fresh ingredients. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Sar Hor Fun.

There are so many stalls that serves good Penang Hawker food in one location (coffee shop) that I would recommend that you visit this Kedai Kopi NEW CATHAY if you are in Jalan Burma.
