We visited Banteay Kdei in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This is a two-part posting on this Buddhist temple in the style of Angkor Wat/Bayon. It was constructed in the late 12th and early 13th century C.E. during the reign of King Jayavarman VII.

Sprawling, largely un-restored, monastic complex in much the same style as Ta Prohm. It was originally constructed over the site of an earlier temple, and functioned as a Buddhist monastery under Jayavarman VII. (To be continued).
